Combining photographs from a mysterious encounter with a mountain during a neighborhood walk and detourned excerpts from René Daumal’s novel Mount Analogue, Francisco explores the mystery in objective Moreover, it is a critique on how the human centered approach of “empathic design” is being used by companies, especially in the industry of digital technology, to create and sell products that are very considerate to the consumer’s surface needs but fail to get across the fundamental essence of empathy. Traore approached our team to help her articulate an inspiring purpose and ambition for the gallery, leading to the driving idea that HTG is a space for diverse perspectives. Traore wanted her namesake business to depart from other galleries’ visual austerity. We used curvilinear shapes, an emphasis on materials, and a color palette of creams and browns to build a visual language that celebrates the gallery’s distinct values. We responded to Traore’s personal vision with customized typography but also ensured, through compositional guidelines and other tools,that the brand system suits the art-world context. The success of our collaboration with Hannah was partially built on a true understanding and alignment with HTG’s vision. We built on the success of our purpose and identity work by designing the gallery’s website, branded templates, and communications materials. A flexible and proactive relationship with Traore and her team enabled us to support the gallery’s short- and long-term needs with high-quality work that integrates seamlessly into the gallery’s launch and ongoing operations. The company approached Frontier in search of brand positioning and a visual identity. After developing a framework that outlines the brand’s purpose and ambition, Frontier created an identity that is as deeply inspired by food as it is by the company’s values. All the brand elements, from the logo and typefaces to the use of duotones and the messaging copy, combine two complementary sides—one motivated by pleasure and experience, another that suggests an obsessive devotion to craft. Building on the idea of complementary pairs, the design approach embraced industry regulations and guidelines while using visual elements to entice and intrigue. The logo combines Chronic Sans, which represents experimentation and the company’s hippie roots, with Formula Condensed, which implies precision and expertise. More broadly, the visual identity employs two typefaces, Brice and Ambit. These choices, combined with bold colors, curvaceous forms, and bright, close-cropped photographs, accompany the Bogart’s Kitchen story. intimate relationship with everyday objects. This book, which is housed and preserved in a shadowbox, contains a collection of everyday objects which people can’t seem to let go and the memories, histories and narratives attached to them. However, the more you intimately engage with this book by touching, the ink rubs off, elevating its preciousness and reinforcing its ephemeral nature. This piece begs to ask: in the absence of a physical form — when the object ceases to exist physically in our lives — how well are we able to sustain the detailed memory that it contains? How would it disrupt our histories?
